This is a delightful and very comfortable place to stay. We had never met Kees and Loes before but they treated us like old friends and we sat down with them to eat their delicious meals. There are lots of birds on their reforested property and even if it rains you can watch several species of hummingbirds at the feeders on the covered patio. I recommend it highly. Also, Loes is a talented artist and can copy anything for you. She painted an Azuero Parakeet for me which I will always treasure!

We recently stayed at the Heliconia for several days. During that time we were treated to morning serenades by the plentiful songbirds in the area (most notably the wren), followed by a delicious fresh breakfast featuring local fruits, cereals, meats, cheeses, etc. The rooms are wonderfully comfortable – each with an outdoor sitting area and hammock. Don’t miss the evening meals – both Kees and Loes are fabulous chefs who outdo themselves by creating unique and delicious meals for their guests. What’s more, they taught us so much about the local flora and fauna, as well as the local lifestyle while we were there. We are very pleased to have found this treasure in the Azuero, and will be recommending it to everyone we know!
Thanks for a great stay!
